Ignition and Charring of PVC-Based Electric Cables

The ignition of four different PVC-based electric cables was studied using cone calorimeter and the influence charring phenomenon on investigated. thermophysical optical properties sheaths before decomposition were measured. kinetics by photogrammetry. It shown that occurs for three at heat flux lower than 45 kW/m2. is flux, higher char amount ignition. In spite formation, it observed time-to-ignition can be properly calculated well-known Quintiere’s equation, considering an apparent temperature This found in range 312°C to 349°C cables.
